About me

This blogspace is an outlet for me to share my experiences and voice my opinions on subjects that concern or interest me. Travel experiences, Data Science, Cricket, Politics, Society, and Movies (not in any order) is what I wanna blog about.

A little more about me…

By profession, I am a Data Scientist and work as a Sr. Data Scientist at Aetna (a health insurance company) based out of New York, NY. I have been in this field for more than 8 years now. Before Aetna I was at Chubb Insurance (P&C insurance firm) in NJ and Mu Sigma (an analytics and data science consulting firm) based out Bangalore, India. In terms of education, I have Masters degree in Analytics from Northwestern University and from an undergrad degree in Information Science from Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore.

I am avid follower of cricket and I like go beyond the stats to understand the game and everything about it better. I also play for a local club here in NJ too keep myself connected to it, although I am not very good at it.

While I am traveling I try to learn smaller aspects about the society and culture of different places, their origins and try to record them here in this site.

Apart from that, like any other millennial, I watch a ton of TV and movies and try to keep it diverse, although I prefer a House of Cards (only up to Season 3 please!) over a Game of Thrones! Also, a confession – I am obsessed with Bollywood and follow it in great detail.

In my past life I was a debater during my undergrad days and took part in a lot of national (NLS, IIT-Delhi, Christ University) and international debates (Oxford University’s inter-varsity).

I also try to do my bit in giving back to the society through a small org. (www.abc-org.blogspot.com) that we established in 2009 with a group of friends. We have managed to keep it alive but are guilty of not doing enough.
